Checking out your guests

LISTING
Your listing's reservations
Once you have checked in your guests and they have completed their stay at your listing, the next step in the reservation lifecycle is to check out.

Charges

Checking out will automatically create an invoice for the reservation. Before checking out a reservation it's a good idea to review the charges to ensure they're up-to-date. If they are not up-to-date click the change link to update them.

Checking Out

Click the check out button on the reservation page to begin the check out process.

The check out button

When checking out you will be prompted to select how you wish to receive payment. There are two main ways you can receive customer payment for reservations on the UpWoof platform.
  1. You can automatically send the customer an invoice via the UpWoof Stripe integration.
  2. You can receive customer payment outside of the UpWoof platform e.g. via your own Point of Sale (POS) system. UpWoof refers to these payments as "Out of Band".

Invoicing via the UpWoof Stripe Integration

UpWoof uses the Stripe Connect platform to manage payment processing. It is fully integrated with UpWoof. This means that when your customer pays your listing for your services, UpWoof automatically updates to reflect this. This alleviates the need to manually reconcile bank account payments to your listing with your listing's outstanding invoices.

After checking out you will see your invoice created automatically in the invoices section of the reservation page.

The reservation invoice

The customer will be notified via email and UpWoof platform notification that they have a new invoice that needs to be paid.

The new invoice email sent to the customer

When the customer clicks pay invoice, either from the email they receive or from the UpWoof platform, they will be directed to the Stripe invoice payment page.

When the invoice is paid by the customer you will be updated via email and UpWoof platform notification. You will also see the statuses have changed on the reservation page to reflect that the reservation has been paid for.

Out of Band Payments

While the UpWoof Stripe integration makes for a more seamless user experience, you can still use UpWoof without using Stripe. To do this select "Out of Band Payment" when checking out the reservation.

The UpWoof reservation workflow for out of band payments is similar to the workflow that uses Stripe. UpWoof will still create an invoice for the reservation. The invoice will immediately be marked as paid. Since payment processing is being handled outside of UpWoof and Stripe, it will be up to you to ensure the appropriate payment has been received for the reservation.

Next Step

After the reservation is checked out, the final step in the reservation lifecycle is reservation completion.
